Privacy Policy
Last updated:
PawLife ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what the PawLife mobile app (the "App") collects, where it goes, and what you can do about it. We wrote it in plain language; if anything is unclear, write to support@pawlife.pet.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data you enter
- Pet profiles: name, species, breed, weight, age, sex, neuter status and photo
- Feeding: foods, feeding plans, meal logs, treats, food stock
- Health: health diary, weight, stool and water logs, activity, symptoms, allergies
- Medical records and medications: vaccinations, procedures, lab results, medications, doses and schedules
- Care, journal and documents: grooming and care tasks, journal notes and photos, pet documents you scan or upload
- AI conversations: messages you send to the AI assistant and the replies
- Your name as you enter it in the App, and the names of family members you share a household with
1.2 Account
The App creates an anonymous account for you on first launch, so your data can be linked to you without an email or password. You can optionally sign in with Apple or Google; we then receive the identifier and, if provided, the name and email address from that provider. We use them only to sign you in and to link your data across your devices.
1.3 Automatically collected data
- Usage analytics: which screens are opened and which features are used (for example, "a meal was logged"), app version, device model, OS version, country and language. We use it to understand what works and to fix what doesn't. It does not include the content of your notes, records or AI messages.
- Crash reports: technical logs when the App crashes.
- Purchases: subscription status and purchase history.
- Push notification token, if you allow notifications.
We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on your device. If you signed in or share a household (family sharing), it is also stored in our cloud database (Google Firebase) so it survives reinstalls and stays in sync between your devices and your family members. Photos and documents of shared pets are stored in Firebase Storage. Data in a household is visible to its members.
If you create a lost-pet tag, the details you choose to show (for example, the pet's photo, name, notes and a contact button) are published on a public web page reachable through the tag's QR code. Deleting the tag removes the page.
3. AI Features
When you use the AI assistant, scan a document or food label, or view AI insights, the App sends the data needed for the answer through our server to Anthropic (the Claude AI model). This includes:
- your pet's profile, logs, notes, health and medical records, feeding plan and medications;
- photos and documents you choose to scan (sent as they are);
- text of saved documents (your own name, address and contact details are left out when the text is extracted);
- the first names of family members who logged entries for the pet, so the assistant understands shared history.
Your email address and location are never sent. AI features only work after you give consent in the App, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data is not used to train their models and is normally deleted within 30 days; see Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We keep counters of how many AI requests you made (for free and subscription limits), not the content of the requests.
4. Service Providers
- Google Firebase — accounts, cloud database and file storage, server functions, push notifications, analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and crash reporting (Crashlytics). See Firebase Privacy.
- Adapty — subscriptions and paywalls. Receives purchase data, subscription status, an account identifier and an analytics identifier so purchases can be matched to app usage. See Adapty's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic — AI features, as described in section 3.
- Apple — payments via the App Store and Sign in with Apple; Google — Google Sign-In.
We do not sell your data and do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing.
5. How We Use Your Information
- to provide the App: feeding plans, calculations, reminders, health tracking, family sharing and backup;
- to provide AI features when you use them;
- to manage subscriptions and limits;
- to understand usage and fix problems (analytics and crash reports).
Legal bases under the GDPR: performance of our contract with you (providing the App), your consent (AI features, notifications), and our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it (analytics, crash reports).
6. Your Rights (GDPR and similar laws)
- Access and portability: export your data from Settings > Your Data > Export My Data.
- Rectification: edit your data directly in the App.
- Deletion: delete individual entries or pets in the App, or delete your account in Settings > Your Data > Delete Account. This removes your account and the cloud data linked to it; a household you share with others keeps the data of its remaining members.
- Withdraw consent: turn off AI features in Settings and notifications in iOS Settings.
- Object or complain: write to us, or contact your local data protection authority.
7. Data Retention
We keep your cloud data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your cloud data is deleted. Data on your device stays until you delete it or remove the App. Analytics and crash data are kept for the periods set by Google (up to 14 months for analytics). Purchase records are kept as required by law and by Apple.
8. Camera and Photo Library
The App asks for camera and photo access only when you add a photo, scan a food label or a vet document. Photos stay on your device, except photos of pets in a shared household (synced to family members) and photos you choose to scan with AI (sent as described in section 3).
9. Notifications
Reminders for meals, medications and care are scheduled on your device. Family updates (for example, "the dog was fed") are delivered as push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
10. Children's Privacy
PawLife is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security and International Transfers
Data is sent over encrypted connections and access to cloud data is restricted to you and your household members. Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States; they do so under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will tell you in the App.

pawlife.pet is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts and has no forms. Our host, Cloudflare, processes the technical data every web request carries (such as the IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, and keeps request logs for a short period.
